The 3rd Annual Awards Ceremony organized by the Alumni Association of the university; “Sri Jayewardenepura Pradeepa Pranama” was held in much grandeur on the 17th October 2018 at the Waters Edge, Colombo. The occasion was graced by the President Maithripala Sirisena, Senior Prof. Sampath Amaratunge; Vice Chancellor of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and a large number of prestigious alumni of the university. W.H.K.H. Vagapitiya, President of the Alumni association of USJP, Dr. Abeyratne Bandara; Secretary of Alumni association, Mr. Ranjith Iddamalgoda; national coordinator were also among the participants.
This year 40 scholars were awarded for their dedication and contribution in enhancing the knowledge in the fields of art, literature, and media. Hence this year awarding ceremony was named as “Sri Jayewardenepura Pradeepa Pranama; Kalakara Abhinandana”(ශ්රී ජයවර්ධනපුර ප්රදීප ප්රණාම, කලාකාර අභිනන්දන”). Dr. Praneeth Abeysundara of the Department of Anthropology of the FHSS was among the awardees and honored for his continuous dedication to the fields of art and literature.
