Associate Prof. Patrick Faulkner and the staff of the Department of History and Archaeology meet the Acting Director-General of Archaeology, Sri Lanka

As per the Research Agreement between the Department of Archaeology of the University of Sydney, Australia, and the Department of History and Archaeology of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka, the second phase of the Bundala prehistoric research excavation project is scheduled to commence further fieldwork and excavation from the 28th of August 2023, based in Bundala National Park. As the state sector institutions of the country, the Department of Archaeology, Sri Lanka, and the Department of Wildlife Conservation, Sri Lanka, are the other two collaborating parties of this project.

Accordingly, the foreign research team from the University of Sydney, Australia, headed by Associate Prof. Patrick Faulkner (Co-Project Director), and the staff of the Department of History and Archaeology, USJ, met the Acting Director-General of Archaeology, Dr. Pradeepa Serasinghe, on the 24th of August 2023, at the Department of Archaeology Head Office, Colombo 07, for preceding discussions prior to the project initiation.

The Project Advisors from the Department of History and Archaeology (USJ), Sen. Lect. (Ven.) Dambara Amila (Head of the Department), Prof. Karunasena Hettiarachchi, Prof. K.M. Alexander, and the Co-Project Director, Sen. Lect. (Dr.) Oshan Wedage of the same department participated in this meeting representing the department and the university.
