The Department of History and Archaeology organizes a workshop on Artifacts Drawing- 2023

Continuing the department’s practice of offering undergraduates a high-quality academic degree program blended with maximum hands-on experience and skill development, the Department of History and Archaeology organized a workshop on ‘Artifacts Drawing’ for the 2nd and 3rd year undergraduates following the B.A. (Honours) in Archaeology degree program, on the 29th of August 2023, at S1 Hall of the department.

Given the experience in the field, Mr. M.W. Indika, an Archaeology Officer from the Ratnapura Project of the Central Cultural Fund was invited as the resource person for this workshop. The workshop was outlined with an introductory speech by the Head of the Department of History and Archaeology, Sen. Lect. (Ven.) Dambara Amila, followed by the initial lecture on the historical evolution and the theories of artifacts drawing, by the resource person. Following that, the students were able to practically engage in drawing multiple artifacts with relevant equipment for the rest of the session, each guided individually by the resource person.

On behalf of the staff and the students, the Department of History and Archaeology would like to extend its sincere thanks to Mr. M.W. Indika, for the smooth conducting of this workshop for the benefit of our undergraduates and looks forward to having the privilege of benefiting from his expertise once more.
