The Department of History and Archaeology felicitates Alumnus Mr. Gamini Samaranayake

Appreciating those who deserve is essential for the well-being of any society. Hence, rather than advising but by setting an example of this good quality to the undergraduates, the Department of History and Archaeology organized a felicitation ceremony for Mr. Gamini Samaranayake, an alumnus produced by the department, on the 10th October 2023, from 1.00 pm onwards, at Prof. Mendis Rohanadheera hall of the department.

Mr. Gamini Samaranayake is a graduate of Archaeology from the batch of 1987. He started his career by serving in the Anuradhapura Regional Office of the Department of Archaeology, from 1988 until his retirement in 2021. His 33 years of service within the field of Archaeology is impeccable and he truly is a living example of a genuine archaeologist. Accordingly, ‘Gamini’, a felicitation book was launched for him during the occasion followed by an appreciation award. Furthermore, his contemporary batch mates, Prof. Karunasena Hettiarachchi and Prof. Pathmasiri Kannangara also warmly spoke of their memories of Mr. Gamini Samaranayake recalling their friendship over four decades.
