The Undergraduates of the Department of History and Archaeology secures all 03 places of their relevant conference track of VURD-2023/24

Under the theme of ‘Embracing Modern Trends in Humanities and Social Sciences’, the Annual Undergraduates’ Research Conference of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, [‘Vidyodaya Undergraduate Research Day (VURD 2023/24)’], was held on the 19th October 2023, at the FHSS premises.

The conference focused on uplifting the skills of the undergraduates and providing an exposure to ascertain and share novel knowledge through research, related to the fields of Humanities and Social Sciences. Accordingly, the undergraduates presented their abstracts under 07 tracks, namely, • Crime, Society and Human Behaviour; • History, Archaeology and Geography; • IT, GIS and Statistics; • Language, Literature and Communication; • Philosophy and Psychology; • Politics and Economy; and • Religion, Culture and Aesthetics.

All the undergraduate presenters were awarded a certificate as a presenter of the conference, while 21 best abstracts were recognized through a double-blind review process by an expert panel together with their presentation marks.

Accordingly, out of the 21 best abstract recognitions, the undergraduates of the Department of History and Archaeology managed to secure all 03 places of their relevant conference track [‘History, Archaeology and Geography’] of VURD-2023/24, as follows.

1st Place – Thilini Nisansala Amarajeewa 2nd Place – Kavindya Masakorala 3rd Place – Isuru Prabath Kodithuwakku
