Associate Prof. Patrick Faulkner, a long-term research collaborator from the Department of Archaeology of the University of Sydney (Australia), who visited Sri Lanka for the second phase of the Bundala prehistoric research excavation project, generously donated archaeological field and laboratory equipment to the Department of History and Archaeology, USJ, on the 24th of August 2023, at the Vice-Chancellor’s Office of the USJ.
Accordingly, numerous archaeological field equipment including a total station, a dumpy level, and a microscope were donated to the department; resources that are highly important for the undergraduates who are following the Archaeology and History (Honours) degree programs. The event was graced by the Vice-Chancellor of the USJ, Prof. Pathmalal M. Manage, and the academic staff, non-academic staff, and the students representing the department attended to witness this handing over.
The staff and the students of the Department of History and Archaeology are immensely grateful to Associate Prof. Patrick Faulkner and the Discipline of Archaeology at the University of Sydney for this kind gesture, which will be a crucial assistance in upgrading the caliber of our undergraduates and the overall quality of the degree programs offered by the department.
