Academic Exchange Programme and Indo-Sri Lankan Students\u2019 Seminar on \u201cChanging Geographies of Cultural Landscape: Perspectives of India and Sri Lanka\u201d \u2013 2017<\/h3>\n

A delegation representing the Department of Geography, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura has taken part in an Academic Exchange Programme at the Parwathibai Chowgule College of Arts and Science (Autonomous), Margao, Goa, India, where a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the two universities, which was held from 15th<\/sup>\u00a0to 20th<\/sup>\u00a0March 2017. Sri Lankan delegation was led by Prof. Sunethra Thennakoon (Head), including Mr. Sumanajith Kumara (Senior Lecturer), Mr. Ravi Nandana \u00a0Gamachchige (Probationary Lecturer) and 17 final year undergraduates of\u00a0 Department of Geography. Several rounds of seminars, workshops and discussions were held during the programmme. A Student Seminar on\u00a0\u201cChanging Geographies of Cultural Landscape: Perspectives of India and Sri Lanka\u201d<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0was held on 18th<\/sup>\u00a0March 2017 exploring the latest trends in the regional cultural landscape. Students representing both Universities presented their papers and shared the knowledge at this seminar. Accordingly, lectures were conducted for Sri Lankan students by the Dr. Nandakumar Sawant (Head of the Institution) \u00a0and Mrs. Anagha Bicholcar (Head of the Geography Department) of the Parvatibai \u00a0Chowgule College on 16th<\/sup>\u00a0and 17th<\/sup>\u00a0March 2017. A series of lectures were also conducted by the Sri Lankan scholars to Geography students in Parwathibai Chowgule College on themes of \u201cEco Strategies of Sri Lanka\u201d and \u201cTrends in Tourism of Sri Lanka\u201d by Prof. Sunethra Thennakoon, \u201cPhysical Background of Sri Lanka\u201d by Mr. Sumanajith Kumara and \u201cCultural Background of Sri Lanka\u201d by Mr. Ravi Nandana Gamachchige. A field trip had also been organized for Sri Lankan students on 19. 03. 2017, where they gained knowledge on cultural landscape, geography and tourism sector of the area.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
